Otavalo and the Equator

By 10th November 2014 No Comments

Our first day on the truck (Didingo) and our first stop was the equator!

Had some lunch and headed to Otavalo to visit the local markets which were full of handmade local goods. So many colourful bags and clothes. Viki went with the girls to join in on haggling for a new bag and some hippy pants.

We chilled out with a beer before heading to the street markets for dinner, they had lots of stalls in the centre with so many options . We decided on a huge kebab with different meats and potato on top and two empanadas for $2.50! Cheap and tasty 🙂

Next day was a long drive day up to the edge of the Amazon , set up camp for the night at our first bush camp. (Toilet facilities only)

Started taking our antimalarial tablets which gave us some freaky dreams!

Next stop the Amazon Jungle!
